Dazebox Home
Dazebox Home is an electric vehicle charging station designed primarily for home use.
Daze is a leading Italian company in the EV charging market, which aims to revolutionize the EV world by making it usable for everyone in terms of user experience.
As creative director and product designer at Daze, my role was to design a charging station that could differentiate itself from the market in a clear way.
Dazebox Home won the Archiproducts Design Award 2023 and the German Design Award 2024.
Problem
Daze was a company that was still too closely related to automotive and engineering. This, of course, made the aesthetic standards suffer as well.
In addition, the industry it is in is predominantly manned by companies involved in the production of electrical equipment, so they focus almost exclusively on functionality, without too much consideration for product design.
Process
The design process first involved in-depth research of market and average user trends.
Through this information we realized that the real step we needed to take was to break out of the hi-tech product paradigm.
Electric cars are the future and as a result we will have more and more ev chargers on the walls of our buildings, this then guided us to the world of architecture, from which we then took inspiration.
Once the outlines were decided, there was a need to differentiate our product also in terms of size. Dazebox Home to date is one of the smallest wallboxes on the market, despite having all the necessary functionality.
The design aimed to be as smart and dynamic as the market it represented, with a focus on clean lines, a distinctive shape, and an intuitive user experience.
Outcome
The market launch of the Dazebox Home product range has been quite successful and has allowed Daze to face the entire European electric landscape with one of the best products available.
As mentioned above, the design of the Dazebox Home has been honored by the Archiproducts Design Award and the German Design Award.
